Tim
Carnes is out to show the people of South Carolina
that their voice is important and there remain true
conservatives who will not compromise their
integrity in the face of difficult decisions and opposition.
Tim has over 30 years experience working with people.
He has lived his entire life in the southeast and
holds the same conservative, common-sense values
as the people of South Carolina. Tim was born into
a family with 5 brothers and 1 sister. He grew up
watching his parents struggle as they provided the
things needed for the family's survival. He has
watched his Mom stretch meager portions to make a meal where all were filled.
Raised in a Christian home, Tim was taught early
the principles of living our lives with the awareness
that we are accountable to our families, our society,
and to our God for what we do and how we live. Honesty
and Integrity have always been foundations ingrained
in Tim’s life as he learned the lessons of saying
what you mean, meaning what you say, and keeping
your promises.
Tim is currently an Officer with
Wachovia Corporation working as a Business Systems Senior
Consultant. Completing
his work on the Information Systems Risk and Remediation
Project, he is currently working to identify, design
and implement data reference standards which will
be used in an Enterprise system across the bank’s
operation throughout the country.

Tim’s faith is an integral part of who he is and
he has been active in almost every position of service
found in ministry. He has been ordained twice, in
the Wesleyan Church and in his home church, Victory
Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC. While serving
and assisting many local congregations, most on
a bi-vocational basis, Tim learned about the needs
and burdens people carry and the important role
that faith-based organizations perform in the lives
of individuals. Whether serving as Senior pastor,
music director or Minister of Education; whether
the work involved teaching, feeding the homeless,
or working with those needing rehabilitation, Tim
has never faltered in his concern for people.

Tim worked
with M.K.Ferguson (The Washington Group) and Bechtel
as they contracted for the Department of Energy
at the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, SC. He began
as a Lead Auditor, Derivative Classifier of Unclassified
Nuclear Information and later Supervisor of the
Trend Analysis program as a Quality Engineer. Working
in the Quality Assurance Program, Tim learned and
demonstrated his ability to analyze problems and
issues, develop workable solutions and ensure the
complete and accurate fulfillment of all requirements.
Tim received his Master of Science degree in
Management Information Systems. He supervised a staff of individuals, beginning
a progressive management career of responsibilities
and learned quickly the importance of honest leadership.
His work was recognized by multiple Quality Awards
including the Performance Gold Award and the statistical
based trend analysis program he developed was adopted
by the D.O.E..

Tim served as the Quality and Information Systems
Manager of a small, family-owned manufacturing business
and instituted a self-developed Management Information
System. While working directly with the CEO, he
witnessed the struggles that small businesses are
encountering with burdensome governmental regulations.
Tim saw firsthand the devastation that is caused
when American Jobs are lost and sent across the
Mexican border. He witnessed the difficulties of
the business owner and the factory worker. He saw
the pain as families were laid off and governmental
decisions added stress to a fragile business market.
When the company filed to reorganize, they were
faced with huge debt, unfinished projects and frozen
supply lines. Tim worked for the Bank of America,
in conjunction with the manufacturer, to accomplish
3 primary tasks: complete the projects on the books;
fulfilling the word and promises made to the customers,
liquidate excessive and non critical inventory and
work with those partners to see the bank's indebtedness
paid off.

After seeing all 3 areas successfully completed,
Tim accepted a position teaching Computer Science
at North Greenville University, Tigerville, SC.
Shortly after receiving his DSc (Doctor of
Science) in Computer Resource and Information
Management, with a specialty in Network Security, Tim was promoted to Chairman of the Computer Science
Department where he outlined standards for courses
ensuring cohesive subject education between the
various professors and class units. Tim was subsequently
promoted to Director of Computer Services where
he managed the Campus Information System while
remaining the Chairman of the Computer Science
Department. Tim knows
how to face practical problems and implement practical
solutions. Working with University leadership and
his staff, Tim implemented significant hardware
improvements, solved communication issues of a growing
student and faculty population, increased security,
reduced risk exposure for both the students and
the University and successfully implemented several
cost saving initiatives, reducing expenditures and
waste while increasing services. Tim's experience
in the private educational arena provided him with
a better understanding of the challenges faced by
administration, faculty, students and their families.

Tim met his wife, Diane in 1975 at Central Wesleyan
College, Central, S.C. They married in 1977 and currently have
4 children, 7 grandchildren, 2 daughter-in-laws
and a son-in-law. Diane and Tim celebrated their
30th wedding anniversary this past April and are
blessed to have a wonderful family. Tim's parents
live in the Atlanta area and his 4 brothers and 1
sister live in various states. Diane, born
across the South Carolina border; in Augusta, Ga
has 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Together they share
a host of nieces and nephews. Family is and always
has been important to Tim and Diane and this is
but one reason Tim is committed to restoring the
straight forward common sense decision making back
into the political process. Tim knows the impact
that decisions made in Washington can have on working
South Carolinians. He knows the difficulty that
comes from having 30 to 40 % of your pay go to the
government. He knows the work and sacrifice it takes
to raise and support a family.
Strong Family Values, core conservative beliefs
and a well rounded experience of service and employment
in Government, Manufacturing, Education and the
Financial markets have equipped Tim for this important
and critical time. South Carolina has a choice.
Common Sense, Core Conservative and Family Values
with Honest Representation for the people of South
Carolina.
