National Security

Iraq

I believe it is crucial that we win the war being fought in Iraq. The stability of the Middle East is in question if Iraq is allowed to be controlled by Muslim extremists. Now that we have entered Iraq and brought the terrorist front to that region, we should not abandon the Iraqi people that we have exposed to this terror element.

- There are legitimate concerns that we have initiated a policy of nation building. I oppose any policy of using our armed forces for the purpose of nation building.

- We are not the world police force and we should not intervene as such.

- All reports indicate the surge is working, we should complete as quickly as possible the task of turning security and self protection over to the Iraqi government. We should make sure our soldiers are provided with all supplies and protective equipment needed to finish the job that they were sent to perform.

- While we should not publish any timeline for departing Iraq, we must hold the Iraqi government responsible for meeting their obligations and stepping up to both the challenges and responsibilities of their sovereignty. Our goal should be to complete this task and leave as early as possible.

- I support the plan that calls for 3 distinct areas of Iraq being formed, allowing each prominent group to occupy and govern. Oil revenues would be divided among the three areas equally and a national unity government would govern over affairs common to all three areas like Oil Revenue distribution, interstate travel, etc

- Iraq should pay for the cost of reconstruction, troop training and support from its own oil revenues and not on the back of the American taxpayer.

Israel

I believe in the full support of Israel. We must maintain our alliance and partnership with Israel and be committed to her survival.

War on Terror

- The War on Terror is a real war. It is also an unconventional war in that the terrorists we are battling are not from a unique nation. They are, in fact, a group of religious zealots who are found in many countries, including the United States of America.

- The philosophy of these terrorists calls for the destruction of our way of life and there are no boundaries, including the destruction of innocent life, that they will not cross in order to accomplish their goals.

- Our battle in this war should be fought with a strong homeland defense and not an intervention policy of aggression.

- We must be vigilant in the aggressive defense of our nation and way of life by passing laws that protect our liberties and empower our forces to win this and any other struggle without surrendering our personal liberties.

- We must provide protection of law to American citizens who, in good faith, report suspicious behavior against being sued, if those suspicions prove at a later point in time to hold no threat.

Immigration

Illegally entering this country is a crime and there should be no amnesty for these individuals who have broken our laws.

Secure the Border

- I believe we should enforce all current border laws to their fullest extent.

- We must begin securing our southern border immediately, beginning with the 854 miles of fence approved and passed in the Security Fence Act. The National Guard should be used to assist current border agents in patrolling duties until the entire southern border has been secured using fencing and all necessary available technologies (including, but not limited to, motion sensors, unmanned drones, and vehicle barriers). Furthermore, additional border patrol agents must be trained and deployed to replace the National Guard as soon as the border patrol agents' training process is complete.

- Our forces on the border shall be permitted to use any means reasonably necessary to prevent illegal activity.

- All soft methods of entry should be identified, (ie..V2-Medical Visa, Student Visa etc) and controlled. All applicants must undergo background checks.

- We must provide full port security and require that all cargo containers entering the country are inspected to ensure they are free of biological and radioactive threats.

Identify the illegal immigrants

- All Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies should be empowered and required to enforce all immigration laws.

- After the border is secured and the flow of illegal invaders has been dealt with, all persons living inside the United States without proper authorization will be given 60 days to turn themselves in and be registered prior to being deported back to their country of origin.

- All illegal and unregistered persons, after the initial 60 day grace period, once discovered will be identified in the registration system and deported back to their home country. These individuals will not be eligible to apply for citizenship or any temporary visa for a minimum of 10 years.

- Any person found to be in this country illegally, who is also using false identification belonging to any American, (i.e. social security card, birth certificate, drivers license etc..) will be identified in the registration system and deported back to their home country. These individuals will not be eligible to apply for citizenship or any temporary visa for a minimum of 10 years.

- Any person found to be in this country illegally, who is guilty of committing any crime will be deported back to their home country and will never be eligible for citizenship or any temporary visa .

- An American Sponsor will be required, as a mechanism to tighten Visa eligibility for all temporary work visa's, V2-Medical visa's and all Student Visa's.  If their temporary status or permitted duration for being in this country on a visa expires, these individuals will be deported back to their home countries.

- There should not be any Citizenship Amnesty granted to any illegal immigrant.

- There should not be any tax amnesty for individuals who have been working in this country illegally and have also not been paying their taxes.

- All applications for citizenship, as well as, all visa's must be preceded with a successful background check.

- Any employer that hires workers, who are not legally able to work in this country, should be fined substantially per offense, and progressive offences may result in jail time.

- No illegal person should be eligible to receive loans, credit services, or Federal Social Services.

- There should be no forced indigent care to Federal, State or Local businesses and organizations.

- Being in this country illegally is not a condition based upon age. Children of Illegal Aliens are in fact illegal aliens themselves. The Fourteenth amendment should be enforced, as crafted and explained by its author and subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court in Elk v. Wilkins 112 U.S. 94 (1884).  Children born while on United States soil are not automatically citizens of the United States. They are in fact citizens of the country of their father. If the father is illegal then the child is illegal.

The Supreme Court  has ruled that the condition of being "under the jurisdiction of the United States" is equated to the condition experienced by citizens of the country. The court held that the phrase "subject to the jurisdiction" requires "direct and immediate allegiance" to the United States, not just physical presence.

All misappropriated services, funds and rights that have been granted due to the incorrect interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment should cease and/or be reversed as applicable. Congress should use its power over naturalization to officially restore the limit of interpretation to be compatible with the above facts. All current and future immigration enforcement should be conducted in agreement with these facts and all misconceived "Anchor Baby" provisions eliminated.

Sanctity of Human Life

- Life begins at conception.

- Life is a gift from our God and Creator.

- All human life is precious and should be fully protected.

- I believe Roe v. Wade was an incorrect decision and should be overturned. I will sponsor and/or present, as appropriate, a life at conception bill within 6 months of taking office.

- I support a constitutional life amendment.

- I oppose all attempts to legalize Euthanasia in any form.

- Human embryos should not be created for the purpose of advancing stem cell research.

Taxes and the Economy

I support the Fair Tax Plan. You can read the complete details of the Fair Tax Plan here: http://www.Fairtax.org/

The FairTax

The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes. It is revenue neutral in that it does not raise more money nor does it raise less money than is currently raised; it just distributes the tax burden evenly.

• Abolishes the IRS

• Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation

• Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding

• Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy

• Allows American products to compete fairly

• Reimburses the tax on purchases of basic necessities

• Enables retirees to keep their entire pension

• Enables workers to keep their entire paycheck

- I believe the 16th amendment should be repealed.

- I believe the President should have the power of the line item veto.

- I believe all “pork” types of amendments/earmarks should be outlawed. All spending measures and proposals should be presented in a bill of its own and only those items specifically related to that expenditure should be able to be offered as amendments.

- I believe the government should practice the same fiscal restraint as the American home. The Federal Budget should be constructed in such a manner that it is balanced. Funding for homeland defense, in a time of war, would be the only exception. The spending of budget monies should be consistently reviewed and all policies which deal with the regulations and methods of spending budget monies should be required to be analyzed and revised as needed. Some tools for reducing waste in the budgeting and expenditure of monies include: citizen committees formed to identify and reduce or eliminate waste in each of the governmental departments, removal of purchasing restrictions that force the purchase of comparable products from pre-approved vendors when their prices exceed market available prices by 10% or more and eliminate the practice that departments who do not spend their budget in any given year will have their budgets reduced the following year.

- I believe in Fair Trade, which means trade on a fair and level playing ground, and the immediate reduction and balance of our trade deficit.

Healthcare

- I do not believe the government is the answer to all problems.

- I believe that smaller government is better and history has taught us that every major social program undertaken by the government proves ineffective and costs more than it is projected when conceived.

- While the quick answer would be to allow government to control and manage the healthcare industry, this is also the wrong answer. We must explore methods to allow the free market to provide these solutions with possible new approaches like: 1) subsidizing University research and building partnerships with drug manufacturers to lower their initial research expenses while protecting their patent rights. This would strengthen our education system, provide a benefit to students and Universities while lowering a primary segment of costs the manufacturers experience and enable a reduction in name brand drugs. 2) expanding competition among Insurance companies by removing state boundary restrictions which would provide better coverage at lower costs. 3) Allow for pre-tax or tax free purchase of insurance coverage for individuals not able to select an employer based plan.

- Social Health programs are a failed experiment in Canada, Britain and France. I am against socialized medicine because it will reduce the quality and availability of health care in our country. This is an important and critical area and deserves analysis from all segments of the industry. We should reject the attempt to have government provide these services just because we have not taken the time to find suitable answers. We should rather spend the time and effort needed to secure the right solution.

Size of Government

- I believe small government is better than large government. Every area of the government should be scrutinized and reduced in size. Reduction in the size of government should include the reduction or elimination of services best handled at the state level of government and the analysis and improvement in the processes and procedures of each department.

- I believe the Department of Education should be eliminated from the Federal level of government and the role and responsibilities moved to the states. The No Child Left Behind program should be eliminated.

Faith and Politics

Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Faith is an integral part of who I am. I believe in every person’s right to exercise their religious belief and practice, within the bounds of the law, without hindrance. I believe, and the Supreme Court has supported, the use of faith-based initiatives where faith-based organizations are partnered with government agencies to deal with many social issues. I believe most who argue for a "wall of separation between church and state" greatly misunderstand the original intent of the phrase as  used by Thomas Jefferson. The acknowledgement of God, religion, and our religious heritage, along with the displaying of religious and historical documents like the Ten Commandments is not a violation of the "separation of church and state." The purpose of the First Amendment is to protect religion from the government, not the other way around.

Marriage

- Marriage is the union between one man and one woman.

-I support a constitutional marriage amendment establishing this, in light of the current debate and attempts to secularize America.

**Top of Page**

Energy Policy

- I support aggressive action in moving toward our energy independence as a nation.

- I support the building of at least 12 new refineries for traditional crude oil and another 12 refineries for bio-types of fuel. The increased refining capacity will assist with the immediate needs and allow us time to develop and cultivate alternative fuels for our transit needs.

- The pursuit of alternative fuels should include ethanol (both corn and sugar based), hydrogen, and bio-fuels.

- I support the safe and clean drilling for oil in Alaska.

- I support the building of additional nuclear facilities/power plants. These plants should be strategically located across the nation.

- I support efforts to research and develop alternative forms of energy for non-transit needs; solar, hydro, wind, natural gas, and hydrogen.

- I support the expansion and use of clean coal technology.

**Top of Page**

Social Security

- I believe that the Social Security funds already paid by American citizens should be fully available and secured in a separate accounting system.

- At no time should Congress pass an appropriation that uses Social Security funds for projects or budgetary shortfalls. Social Security shall be kept in savings for its intended purpose.

- Social Security pensions should be free of taxation

- Every American should have the opportunity to fund their retirement in various investment methods.

- There should be no earnings cap for current or future retirees.

**Top of Page**

United Nations

While the United Nations has provided some positive service to the world, reform and accountability needs to be restored in the United Nations. Our support should be contingent upon those reforms being successfully fulfilled.

-Our participation in the United Nations should be limited to having a voice in world affairs but we should not be under the jurisdiction of any UN institution like the World Trade Organization, World Court or World Bank as examples.

- At no time should American troops be placed under the command or banner of the United Nations.

- I oppose ratification of the Law of The Sea Treaty (LOST) and all other treaties which subjugate American rights and sovereignty to the United Nations or any committee consisting of United Nation member states.

- I am against the globalization of the United States by unification of trade, economic currency and/or governmental policy and practice. All treaties which support and provide a foundation for globalized policy subjection, like the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), NAFTA and CAFTA should be examined, modified and repealed as appropriate.

- I am opposed to the stated purpose and goals of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and will work against their influence in our National policy and laws.

**Top of Page**

Judicial Reform

The job of a judge is to interpret the law and not to create the law. All judges should be selected for their belief and desire to interpret the law in light of the Constitution.

- I support the placement of conservative and morally sensitive judges in all Federal judicial positions.

- Congress should be required to act upon a candidate or a pool of candidates presented to them for judicial placement by the President within a 90 day period of time. Failure to fulfill its responsibilities should negate its privilege. Every judicial nomination should be given a fair hearing and an up or down vote.

**Top of Page**

First Amendment

Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every American. Free speech shall not be limited or restrained by law. Congress shall make no law which restricts the free exercise of the 1st amendment. No law, like the Fairness Doctrine, shall be passed to interfere or control the free market and its respective industries, like Talk Radio.

**Top of Page**

Second Amendment

- I fully support the rights of all Americans to buy, possess and use arms.

- I do not believe the government has the right to restrict gun ownership nor does it have the right to require registration of gun ownership/possession. The only restrictions would be those placed on the mentally handicapped and convicted Felons.

- I believe all citizens have the right to carry arms and that any State restricting or preventing that right should be challenged and the law reversed.

- I support organized citizen militia groups, operating within the bounds of established law, like the Minutemen.

- I believe the government has no right to restrict gun shows.

- At no point in time will it be acceptable for American law to be based upon United Nations policy. The UN holds a hostile position toward the citizen to bear arms and should be moot in the formation of our laws.

**Top of Page**

Congress and Other Issues

 - I believe each piece of legislation should be introduced in single issues and no amendments should be allowed which are not germane to the bill.

- Term limits should be established; 2 terms for Senators and 6 terms for Representatives. (12 years)

- McCain-Feingold Campaign reform act should be repealed. Campaign Finance reform should move to a Clean Election system or a Voting With Dollars type of system. Constraints on donations by corporations should be maintained and all attempts to limit free speech should not be part of any campaign finance reform bill.

- English should be the official language of our country.

- I support Capital Punishment which is the duty of our Judicial system to defend the right of the innocent by mandating the life of the guilty offender be taken. Those found guilty by our judicial system forfeit their right of protection by their intentional destruction of another's life.

-  No law requiring or implementing a National Identification Card should be allowed. I am opposed to bio-metric Social Security Cards.

- I believe all elected representatives should be required to give report to the citizens and answer questions offered by the citizens during each Congressional break. Reports should be distributed across different areas of the state and all citizens invited to be a part.

- Congress shall not grant to the executive branch any power, like accelerated negotiation of treaties, that conflict with the Constitutional separation of powers.

- All laws which enable the executive branch to enact martial law powers on a national scale should be repealed.
