Lindsey's Liberal Positions
Lindsey prides himself on having being rated
as a 90% conservative. That makes him a 10%
liberal, in fact over the last 2
congressional sessions Lindsey has voted
with the liberal position 13% of the time.
His Liberal posturing began back when he was
in the House of Representatives and
continues even today.
Lindsey insults the people
of South Carolina by believing that they are
not able to recognize his bait and switch
tactics. For example he voted against
Senator Isakson's amendment calling for
securing the border first until he, John
McCain, Ted Kennedy and the other sponsors
of the Immigration Amnesty bill realized
they had stirred up the American people,
Lindsey runs ahead and proposes an amendment
to tighten border security so he could play
the politics game and claim to support
border security first when he argued multiple
times against it on the floor of the Senate.
Folks, where I come from that's call being
hypocritical or lack of truth in one's
actions.
His record and His
positions speak, yes he is a part time
conservative and he is a part time liberal.
When he is liberal he is Massachusetts type
of liberal as he agrees with Ted Kennedy's
position more often than not. In fact if you
review these examples of Lindsey's betrayal
to conservative values you will see multiple
times when he is more than Massachusetts
liberal because Lindsey has taken positions
in favor of liberal policies where even Ted
Kennedy has voted with the Republicans.
Why is this important ?
Because the whole record of a Senator is not
in his sound bites and in his political
posturing but in the things he does and the
values he supports all the time.
Here is a summary and you
will progressively find more links of
validation as time allows and you are
encouraged to visit the Congressional record
website and view the bills and amendments
that are presented and the position that
Lindsey takes .....
- Graham hosted a
midnight meeting
attempting to overthrow Newt Gingrich
- Graham was
the only republican on the judiciary to
vote against an impeachment article
and justified Clinton's lying under oath as
something anybody might tend to do because
it involved Clinton's sex life.
Democrats proclaimed
that Graham's vote saved Clinton from a
great deal of trouble
-
Lindsey worked to the benefit of the
Democrats when he introduced the
idea of a Rumsfeld resignation,
something at the time that even Democrats
had not publicly mentioned but afterwards
began to regularly call for the resignation
of Rumsfeld.
- In March 2005,
reported by Washington Monthly,
Graham
indicated he would not support extension of
some of the president's tax cuts
- It was Graham
himself who said of himself "Republican
by day. Democrat by night," when he
partnered with Democrat Tom Daschle and
opposed his party in support of Daschle’s
bill.
-
Graham
promoted a tax increase when he proposed
raising the cap on the payroll taxes.
-
Graham said He did not know of any legal
basis for President Bush's program of
protecting Americans while monitoring
terrorists. Mr. Graham, the legal basis
is to protect the people of this country, to
protect South Carolinians.
-
Lindsey was party to attacking our First
Amendment rights with his support of
McCain-Feingold
-
He
was a chief architect in the Fiasco
of the Gang of 14
-
We do not want to work hard, pay
our taxes and then provide tax amnesty to
illegal immigrants as a reward for their
behavior
- Graham's call to
push a bio-metric Social Security,
National Identity card on American citizens
- Graham calls it the
future globalized highway, softening
our borders, taking American jobs and
putting our people at greater risk.
Mexican Domiciled
Trucks – Security risk of terror and cargo,
safety risks, and the loss of more American Jobs
- Graham voted against
requiring the border to be secured first
(S2611 -
Isakson Amdt. No. 3961) and of
course he voted to provide Amnesty to over
30 million illegal immigrants. (S2611)
(S1348)
- 2 separate amendments
to provide a limit of 200,000 (Bingaman
3981) and then 650,000 (Bingaman
4131) temp workers per year.
Graham & Kennedy said no limits
- 3 occasions voted to
allow you to pay for social
security/medicare benefits,(
Ensign 3985) health and education
services expenses, (Cornyn
4038) lack of insurance coverage
expenses for the proposed amnesty
recipients (S1348
- DeMint 1197)
- No limit on the
earned income tax credit payout of
multiple billions of dollars for illegals (Sessions
4108) Graham voted against requiring
back taxes be paid first before
getting Earned Income Tax Credit Monies
(Ensign 4136)
- Voted against
information sharing between Federal & local
law enforcement concerning
immigration status (Coleman
1158)
- Graham voted
against prohibiting gang members,
murders and rapists, child molesters from
becoming citizens,(
Cornyn 1184) Against enforcing
the US Visit law tightening our visa
visitation (Vitter
1339) and Against amendment to
enforce all existing security and
immigration laws. (Coburn
1311)Voted against enforcing
existing laws.
- Voted against improving
visa program to encourage awards of visa
to aliens with advanced technical, science
and mathematical degress. (Gregg
4114) Voted against greater transparency
in legislative process (S.1)
- Lindsey is
more
liberal than even Ted Kennedy at times. Ted
Kennedy voted to increase cargo
inspections at the points of origin before
reaching our ports, and voted to
ensure full
radiation inspection within 5 years (HR1),
Voted to increase visa security and
Lindsey Graham voted against all of these
protections
- When Kennedy voted to
commend American citizens for being diligent
by providing immunity against being sued
for reporting in good faith suspicious
activities…Ted Kennedy voted with the
Republicans Lindsey Graham voted
against these protections, more
liberal than Kennedy.
- Kennedy voted to invest
in innovation and education improving our
competitiveness.(S761
As Amended) Kennedy voted for ensuring
employers make efforts to hire American
workers (S1348 - Durbin 1231)
Both times Kennedy voted with the Republican
party Lindsey took a more liberal
position.
- Kennedy and the
Republicans voted to express a concern to
Iraq that they should not grant amnesty to
persons who had attacked, killed or wounded
American Soldiers.(S2766
- Nelson (FL) 4265) Lindsey
voted against that.
Now this
was shocking to me that Lindsey go around
and postures as a strong support the troops
kind of Senator. He supports the war but
when the Congress is expressing a concern
and issuing a warning that the new Iraq
government not provide amnesty, forgiveness
to anyone who fought against our men and
women, who were guilty of injuring or
killing our troops. Graham voted
against the measure. How can he say he
supports the troops when he is willing for
their killers to get amnesty from the Iraq
government ?
Here is
the exact wording of the resolution that
Lindsey voted against. This is taken directly
from the Congressional Record. You decide.
Congress makes the following
findings:
(1) The Armed Forces of
the United States and coalition military
forces are serving heroically in Iraq to
provide all the people of Iraq a better
future.
(2) The Armed Forces of
the United States and coalition military
forces have served bravely in Iraq since the
beginning of military operations in March of
2003.
(3) More than 2,500
members of the Armed Forces of the United
States and members of the coalition forces
have been killed and more than 18,000
injured in operations to bring peace and
stability to all the people of Iraq.
(b) Sense of Congress.--It
is the sense of Congress that
(1) the Government of Iraq
should not grant amnesty to persons known
who have attacked, killed, or wounded
members of the Armed forces of the United
States; and
(2) the President should
immediately notify the Government of Iraq
that the Government of the United States
strongly opposes granting amnesty to persons
who have attacked members of the Armed
Forces of the United States.
That is very clear. That
is what we are going to be called to vote
on.
Lindsey
Voted NO.
- Soon after Abu
Graib, many of Graham's positions
assisted in restricting the hands of
interrogators
in legitimate
methods of information retrieval and made it
more difficult to interrogate the
terrorists.
- It was Graham, as
reported by Time magazine, who pushed
and wanted to provide classified information
to the terrorists at their trials. Classified
information that once exposed would have
made our fight against terrorism more
difficult, would have put operatives in the
field at greater risk and would have made
our country less secure.
Lindsey
spoke to the Richland County Executive
Committee and said he is
tired of those of us with him on Thursday
and against him on Friday. But
Lindsey has it backwards…we don’t work
for Lindsey. Lindsey works for us.
Lindsey has betrayed our values over and
over again. He has taken positions far more
liberal than the people of South Carolina
want or represent.
Just because he
holds office, does not mean he deserves to
stay in office.
Lindsey deserves to be a One Term Senator
!
He can call us
bigots when we oppose him, he can tell us to
shut up but we are the voters of South
Carolina. We demand consistent conservative
representation.
